“ Oh my!!! Love this place! The food, the people and the decor! My husband ordered the KWJ burger. It was HUGE!! He loved it! I had the small Pulled Pork Platter and the Baked Tater Salad! They should call it The Famous Baked Tater Salad! Served warm with cheese.....what a yummy surprise!! ”

“ So I’m from Florida and I had family move up here to Johnson city just a few years ago and the first time I went up there after a long days hike we came across this place didn’t expect much at first but after trying their pig wings I FELL IN LOVE!! Ever since every time I come up here all I ever talk about is how I have to stop at highlanders for their amazing pig wings but not only that the staff their are the sweetest nicest people you can meet and for desert I highly recommend the blueberry cheesecake ice cream cone it’s so delicious I’m not even trying to exaggerate but everything I have eaten there has always been fresh and hot I come up here every year and I this will always be my #1 go to spot for bbq hands down thank you and your amazing staff at highlanders I look forward to seeing you guys soon again ”
“ Oh my... I may be a business Like Burger connoisseur of sorts But this Angus beef cheeseburger on a heavy toasted FRESH bun blew my everloving carnivore mind! If I lived in the area... this would be my spot _ and I (as well) would have a burger named in my honor! Food came out relatively quick. Service from hostess/cashier was exceptional (I may have received a tad little bit more of her special attention- but it was welcomed ) Clean establishment- friendly staff. Wings were just okay. BBQ pork sandwich was HEAVENLY 2 say the least. Meat was tender and tasted as it was smoked to near perfection overnight. A pig's perfect place to be plated! Great job Highlander! Kudos to your chef/cook. ”

The place was about half full, so everyone else around must like it. We just stopped because we were in the area on a trip. ”

I had the special of the day, country fried steak sandwich and fries. It was delicious. If your up in Roan Mountain it's a must stop. If you're not, it's worth the scenic drive to get here. ”
